A Beginner

A person, still searching for his true passion, still unable to find his field of interest. But has enough of self-belief of doing well in the future.

My take on border-gavaskar trophy

Nagpur test between India and Australia started today on 9th Feb, and after the first day's play, India is on a very dominant position. India's bowlers could restrict the Aussies to 177 only in the first innings and their openers Rohit and Rahul could play almost the entire day to score 77 odd runs. Rahul though got out in the second last over of the day.

The whole point of writing this blog is me being Indian actually supporting this Aussie side. I was thinking the last night that there's a high possibility that India could go down in this series and lose it 0-2.

Bankimnagar Cycling

I am planning for a cycle trip to bankim nagar on 31st July morning. Ranaghat to bankim nagar by road is 6 kms.

Did the cycling finally. Started a little late from home - around 8.10am; route is very easy to remember - Happy Club Maidan - Sarakpara - Hijuli Gajontala - Halalpur - take right from Vivekananda park. Left road goes to Kalinaranpur.

One common thing which I observed in all these 4 cycling trips - lives of most of the people in and around Ranaghat are very simple - they don't have lots of demand for the comfort and luxury in lives. People are generally happy by doing their day to day work - be it office or business, earn money and leave for home happily at the end of the day.

Ranaghat is one of the busiest and complete towns in WB - it has everything, starting from a wholesale vegetable and kirana markets to luxury shopping. Adarsha Hindu Hotel, if you are aware of, has been serving delicious indian and chinese cuisines to the people of nadia district for last 75 years or so. Popular bengali writer Bibhuti bhushan has a famous novel on the same hotel - reference given here.

Adding some photos from the cycle trip here - took me 30-35 mins one way - stopped midway once for some tea and pictures.

Thanks for reading my blog here.

Cooper's cycling in the morning

Cooper's camp is a notified area near ranaghat. It's one of the oldest areas in and around ranaghat. I went for a 10 kms cycling (5 kms to and fro) on 30th July morning around 9am. There's a new railway station Cooper's Halt set up 6 years ago. It falls on Ranaghat - Bongaon route. Here are some pics.

Above 3 pictures are in and around new manasa mandir, set up in year 2012.

Payradanga Cycling

Payradanga is the next station from Ranaghat when you go to Sealdah. "শিয়ালদা যাওয়ার গাড়ী ডাউন শান্তিপুর লোকাল দুই নম্বর প্ল্যাটফর্ম থেকে ছাড়বে।" We all are used to listen to these kind of announcements since childhood (down train to Sealdah would start from platform number 2).

I went for a morning cycling from Ranaghat to Payradanga (7.5 kms each side - 15 ons total) on 29th of July. There are two routes - one via the NH-34 highway, other through the anuliya sub-divisional hospital area. When you are in cycle, first route is not at all advisable, I also took the second route only.

Anuliya area is full of wholesale pharmacy stores. As there's rapid urbanization of the town, and sub-divisional hospital in Anuliya being one of the oldest govt hospitals in Nadia district, there's a lot of medical stores, be it small or big, have come up within 1 km radius of the hospital. And trust me there's a lot of rivalry between all the sellers of medicines, they (the shopkeepers) are forced to sale by keeping the profit margin very less. Not only in medicines, be it in any sector of business, profit margins in ranaghat is very less.

Anyways, I want to upload some photos from the morning. Here are they.

Kalinarayanpur - A cycle trip from Ranaghat

Nadia district is a rich state in agriculture, you would see different types of vegetables in most of the public places - like railway station markets, main streets etc.

On the morning of 27th July 2021, I made a cycling trip from my place in ranaghat to kalinarayanpur - 5 kms by road. The streets are full with greenery. See here.
The last banyan tree which you see above is next to hijuli high secondary school. The tea stall owner (Montu da) there has been running the shop for last 21 years.

A customary masked selfie before starting the journey.

As many of you already know that bengalis can mix with other people very well. Talked to a lot of strangers on the way. Met one Sarajit at the KNJ railway station. He has been running to all the doctors in bengal to get a treatment for his left leg. It was almost broken 15 years ago when he fell in front of a running train somewhere in nadia district. Tried to help him with foods in whatever way I can, he happily accepted it.

Here is KNJ - Kalinarayan pur junction station - in and around.
In the third last photo, you can see the bifurcation of railway tracks - left goes to Shantipur, right to Krishnagar. Both are famous townships in Nadia district.

Debu sweets makes delicious healthy and cheap breakfast, and that Ayurveda shop falls just before you take a left turn for the station road.

A good morning trip to burn some extra calories I must say. Spotted a gents garments shop on my way back - got this army tracksuit at 330/-. Is it worth? Time will tell - but looks definitely yes.

Friends staying in Ranaghat, try out the fish or fruits market on your way back from the station, you may get better items than what you see in and around your home.

Thanks for reading, I'm ending the blog here.

KL Rahul - loved his batting

Guys, This guy Lokesh Rahul is a batsman to be watched out in the next 2-3 years. I found him better than Kohli-Rohit sometimes, and he's the most modest guy in the post-match presentation. See the IPL-2020 5th match highlights here and decide yourself.
