A Beginner

A person, still searching for his true passion, still unable to find his field of interest. But has enough of self-belief of doing well in the future.

Some Snaps ..

Actualy, i was unable to study. So thought of updating my blog. Here goes my Kanpur-friend Arindam.

He was one of my closest friends. We became good friends during the narendrapur days. Both of us have registered for dual-degree CSE programmes, him at Kanpur, me at Kharagpur. I must say he is quite serious with his work. Doesn't waste time like me in maintaining a bogus blog like this. Had his summer training in Triesta, Italy. All in all, a caring and lovable friend.

and there goes me, with a typical pose, posted after so many edits. Thats infront of the Maths dep(i m not sure) of IIT-K.

Those pics were shot on 22 nd Oct, in the antaragni premises of IIT-Kanpur. Saw some paintings. Want to upload them. Here they goes.

Watched a show called 'Abhivyakti', where groups of students were expressing a situatoin without any words. Patna College and another one performed well. Had some usual travellings inside the campus after that. At night one fashion show was there, but the volunteers over there were not allowing students to get inside. So... Had some foods in the Mall, made for the fest. These are quite similar to the IIT-KGP fest. KGP also host a show called Fine-frenzy, a fashion parad show where people from differnet colleges participate. That night an event called 'Dandiya' was held. But since only couples were allowed to enter there and you see a batchelor person like me could not attend that... To sustin the interest i believe, i should quit now. Will come back shortly.

Trip Continued

I want to finish this blog asap. After BS city, the weather became little hot, since the sun had already risen. I wanted to have a little sleep, went for it since the upper birth was completely free. Ordered for the lunch after i got up. The food was good. Forgot exactly what was served, but it was purely vegeterian-food. Railway-food, prepared from the pantry-cars gurantee you it will digest properly and at the same time it was tasty too. I took one novel 'Alchemist' by 'Paulo Cohelo' with me but could not read more than 5/6 pages. The train was still crossing through Jharkhand. I was repenting 'had i had a camera in my possession'? Kaash mere paas ek camera hota? I wanted to take some snaps of outside. In the mean time, we were informed the train had been running late half-an-hour. The train came to Gaya. I ve a very close friend 'Golu' aka 'Ashutosh' from gaya. I am runnig out of words. Mughal sarai came. Whoever has gone over UP, must have an experience how people over there cheat. One guy, having ordinary second-class ticket came in our sleeper coach and seat comfortably. When the TTE charged him for not having proper ticket, he said, he is the "brother" of so-and-so person, who is the head TTE of Deluxe express. The TTE's finally had to leave him. Quite fine an excuse!! Those people descended at Mughal-Sarai. At this station, i had some chat with my fellow-passengers and came to know that the fruit 'guava' aka 'piara' in bengali, aka 'aamroot' in hindi is called 'pijuli' in Oriya. Good funda. Only 2 stoppages from there the Kanpur Central railway station. Mirzapur and Allahabad. At Mirzapur, the typical UP'ians boarded the train and went to occupy the upper births straight-way. Allahabad came after 1 and half-hour from Mirzapur. I think i m depicting a monologue. All right. In between Allahabad and Kanpur, somewhere i had my dinner with Anda-biryani, served from the pantry-car itself. That food was good too. Around 9:15 in the night i packed up everything. Train reached kanpur central around 10 in the night.
The weather was not so cool as i was expecting. Already had the information that 'tempo' is available to go to the IIT, which take minimal charges compare to the 100/- bucks demanded by the taxis and autos. So hired for one ricksha first which came to a place called 'parad', from where i got a tempo to go to the IIT-K. The IIT is around 16 kms from the Kanpur central railway station. It took around 45 minutes to reach there. The Kanpur city is not bad either. A decent city life exists outside IIT itself in contrary to IIT-KGP, where i belong.

The city has one multiplex, some good restaurants, couple of plazas too. Saw 2/3 universities in the way too. At last came the IIT-K main gate.

Saw the 'Antaragni' poster outside. So and so sponsors. But not a single sound outside, i mean near the main gate, i couldn't hear a single sound of a fest. In the end it turned up, the main fest arena is quite far from the gate. That night (21st of Oct) some rock-band was performing. Those usual rock songs 'we will rock u', some 'Enrique' stuffs. Though i dont listen to rock frequently, i know the names atleast. Had a long walk from the gate to the fest-arena and then was informed that 'Hall7' was the remotest from there. Finally reached 'Hall7'. It was 11:30 in the night. Went to Arindam's room. Even he was quite surprised to see me. Actually even he couldn't believe i would reach there so fast. Had some words exchanged between us, better not mentioned here. Was introduced to his friend Rishabh there. We all were final year dual-degree students of CSE department. Went to the CSE department that night. And since it was already 1 in the night, not a single of the show was going on. All the participants and students were resting here and there. One thing was noticeable. UP girls have average heights of mine. We both got tired after 2 hours of trolling and it was 4 in the night. Came back to his room and had a sound sleep. I will continue later.

Kanpur Trip Continued

The journey to be continued. At tatanagar the train reached in the morning around 6 am. Asked a sardarji whether the train is running at right time or not. And i was informed the train arrived exactly at its scheduled time. 'Purshottam Express' must be the first choice for all the passengers in this route because of its hoo-haa punctuality!! Anyway, had some usual stuffs inside the train, like having washes, then having tea. It was around 7:30 in the morning. Train was running through Jharkhand. Couple of steel factories were visible. You must be knowing that Jamshedpur region is famous for iron-ore.One of the largest steel factories ibn India (TISCO, made by Jamshedji Tata is at Tatanagar. The weather was quite fine outside. It was raining in drops. If you stand just in front of the door, you will simply feel COOL. After couple of hours the next stoppage 'Purulia' came. That means the train has crossed Bengal twice and went to Jharkhand twice. The time was running fine. Had some chats with my co-passengers. One TIbetian was there. Just get to know about him since he was reading a novel, of which i dont recognize the fonts. Then i came to know that he is from Tibet. After residing so many years he even understand a bit of hindi too. Whatever !! Next came Bokaro Steel City.I have at least 10 friends from this BS City. So was thinking 'Duniya bahot i chhota hain'. I reached here within a night. OK . i m not going to bore you further. Will continue the blog after some time .

Kanpur Trip

I want to share my Kanpur trip with you viewers. This was my first trip alone for a night. Initially, i used to be with my families or friends. So my mind was filled of thrill(because i m going to a new place), kind of fear(might get robbed in the train, because so many news turned up in the newspapers in every week), might loose some of my stuffs, some accident might occur. But in the end, it was well enough to be cherished as one of my memorable journeys. I want to post the idea vividly in the net. So here it goes.

17 th Oct: Just came back from home after a week-long puja vacation. Had made the plans to go to IIT-K there. Saw the time-table and found going by Purshottam would be the best option.

18 th Oct: Enquired in the reservetion counter inside our insti itself about the reservation. Came to know that only 'tatkal scheme' can provide me the seat on that train. Since only 2 days were left. Because i was planning to leave KGP on 20th Night(Actually its 21st night, since the train was at 3:45 am in the morning) and to return on 23 rd in the afternoon. Since oracle ppt was scheduled on 23 rd evening itself and i didn't want to miss that.

19th Oct: Did the reservation in the Purshottam express from KGP to Kanpur just after the class finished at 9:30. Got to know that i have to book for the whole journey from Puri to New Delhi i.e. the source and destination station of the said train. Whatever. That took some extra (around 250/- more) money. But when you are going to meet a childhood friend of yours after a so long time, then money doesn't matter.

Since i dint have enough money, went to the PNB (Punjab National Bank) that night and bought some healthy amount expecting a helluva expenditure in the coming 5/6 days. And one thing, on my way back i smoked 2 gold-flake (with filters) completely. Since it was raining in cats and dogs, it was quite necessary to have some smokes to keep myself warm. Whatever, had 2/3 e-clairs to do away with the smell that comes out of mouth once you smoke. When came back near Lallu hall, saw due to heavy downpour, the streets are already overflowing with water. Why not get myself drenched for sometime? I cobbled through the street. Reached RP and found myself quite fine even after 5/6 hours.

20 th Oct: This morning i did the return reservation too. The ticket was of Kalka Mail, expected time of departure from Kanpur central station is 2:55 pm on 23 rd of October. Fine it is . I could attend the morning class too on monday, which i have been bunking for the last three weeks.
The classes got over. Had lunch, and watched some stupid laughter challenge episodes. Came the evening. Had the snax. Since it was raining continuously, i could not make my way out. I was getting restless. Once it stopped for some time, went to swaraj travels and booked a taxi for that night. As advance they took 50/- bucks and the rest 50/- bucks after the taxi driver drop me at the railway staion. Okay, that seems pretty fine.
Came back home. Watched some video. Again checked my resev. status on the net at this link . This time saw resv chart has been prepared. Checked the returning status too. Damn!! That is still as before. WL30. Dont know what will happen.
The rains finally stopped for a longer time. Went to the Tech Market. Bought some journey stuffs. A chain-lock, a towel(since mine was already wet.), a pair of sandals, some soap-paper, one ponds, some foods, cheaps. After all, first journey. Shouldn't take any risk.
Started packing after getting back from there. Packed everything. Took two pull-overs. Couldn't manage the camera from Raviraj. Its all-right. Watched Gupt with Aayush. The time was then already 12 in the night. Had plans to have a little bit of sleep, but gave it up since that could be risky, because i might miss the train. So did some stuffs on the net. Like reading news, checked status once again. This time i found return status was WL28. has been decreased by two. According to the law of proportion of time, by the end of sunday afternoon, my seat should have been confirmed. So i feel a little happy.
The time was passing fast. I ironed one jeans which i was planning to wear that night. It was around 1:30 in the night, i packed up everything. Went to the security counter whether the taxi has come or not. NO!! Nothing was there. Again came at 2:30, still the same situation. That time, even the rains have been doubled up. I thought all my efforts would be in vain if i could not manage a rickshaw within 30 minutes. The security-guard there helped me a lot. He gave me his umbrella. It was 2:45 in the night. Went to the main rickshaw stand. Luckily found two rickshaws. Pursuaded them my situation "i need a rickshaw only if the taxi not coming". Its all right with them. Came to hostel room, picked the luggage, had a final call to 'My Durga', locked the room and proceeded to the gate. Not a single of my wingies was awake that time. Who cares! Saw the rickshaw already arrived. Didn't like to waste any time and boarded that straight-way. The station was not near either. Through the muddy roads, the rickshaw-walla reached me the station within half an hour. Gave him 50/- rupees. Actually he should get that. Saw the name 'Purshottam Express' glowing in the station time-table. The weather was so rainy, still the train was running at its right time. Quite surprising! Anyway waited for half an hour. Then the train came. huge train indeed. So many sleepers, 5 3-tier AC's 2 2-tier AC's, pantry cars. Whatever! Got the S2-berth no 30 quite easily. It was an upper berth. One passenger was sleeping there. Wake him up. The train left KGP around 4, actually exactly at 4am. Quite nice. Thus i started the journey first time in my life alone. I was so much thrilled inside, i couldn't even explain. So many thoughts were coming in my mind. I told about that before. The next stoppage would be Tatanagar early in the morning. I needed a sleep. So went for it. Will continue the journey and the rest of the story in my next blog.
